Crossville is situated on the Cumberland Plateau and surrounded by small lakes. It originated as the intersection of stage roads between Knoxville and Nashville, and eventually developed into its own metro area.

Much of Crossville’s outdoor recreation can be found at Cumberland Mountain State Park, a 1,720-acre park with hiking, biking, boating, swimming, and birding available to residents. In addition, the Catoosa Wildlife Management Area just outside the city has even more natural space.

Crossville’s downtown is very active, hosting several annual and weekly community events including the annual Taste of Crossville, weekly Thursdays at the Amp for concerts, and weekly Fridays at the Crossroads for restaurant and boutique events. There are also several antique shops, two wineries, and a weekend farmers market.

Residents looking for more high-end shopping and dining can head 90 minutes to Knoxville or two hours to Nashville.

Crossville’s cost of living is well below the national average, mainly because of the low cost of housing. Utilities and transportation are also below average, while groceries and health care are both above.
